Computers are becoming more and more as needed in the modern home as the refrigerator or stove in the modern kitchen. Universities require students to have one upon entering, many private and some public Primary and Secondary schools also require a computer for some, if not all classes. Our local Public Library has a 1 to 2 hour wait time most nights for use of a computer. Many are checking mail or playing games, but others are looking up reference material for reports that 20 years ago would have to be found in the Periodical Index in the back of the Library after hours of searching key phrases and topics. Then, you hoped no one cut out the part you needed from the said magazine; or, that the Microfiche Machine was working and you had enough change.. Anti-Virus: As a long time user of Norton and McAfee, I was skeptical about Freeware, but AVG has earned my trust. Ad Blockers: Ad Aware works. You can pay for better control and automate some of the features, or you can use the ShareWare version. Spy Blockers: Spybot Search and Destroy is a true Freeware, and if you never actually read another license agreement, read this one! |
